Creeping plant, 2005
|
An artificial creeping plant formed of 15.000 galvanized iron leaves seem to grow organically on the walls of the exhibition space. The shiny leaves are very common as decoration in balconies and grids in wrought iron that protect windows in traditional houses in Colombia. Along with the plant, a time-lapse video animation shows how the artificial plant has blossomed out and invaded the space.
This installation confront concepts like live versus inert, natural versus artificial. Organic versus inorganic to question the constant tensions between nature and the urban culture. |
