Deproyectar, 2014
This installation consists of an arrangement of two large tables supporting mirrors with an image cast in two parts with paint on their surface. Illuminated by two spot lamps, they reflect the graphics which reproduces an elevation of the famous Schroeder House by Dutch architect Gerrit Rietveldt on a screen wall. Another elevation representing a housing development mounted on a folded board complete the work. The housing scheme corresponds to a suburban sector in Medellin, built during the nineties which architectural features are clearly influenced by Rietveldt‘s house. The work comments on the late insertion of modern architectural values in the context of Medellin urban transformation of the nineties, and the consequent aesthetic and functional imposed models to inhabit, which are not always appropriated for our societies and territories. |
