Projecting towards the infinite, 2016 Projecting towards the infinite addressed the undreamed and infinite possibilities to extend the limits of architectural space and, at the same time, to foster new ways of thinking upon its structures. The project comprises three works: Projecting towards the infinite - which gives the general title, Arch and 270°. The pieces re-shape traditional tools used in planning and drawing (a drawing table, a wooden ruler and a wooden protractor) as a formal and conceptual exercise to rise questions on the prescriptions and rules in projecting. They are meant to motivate reflections about conventionality in architectural projections. The works critically examine fundamentals used in architecture implicit in the instruments, as it could be the dominance of right angles and straight lines, pointing out the need of warmer and more flexible codes. By way of transforming basic tools, the works bring into question prescriptions to create spaces and states that architecture could be re- imagined. |
