Theorem to construct a technical landscape, 2013
Theorem to construct a technical landscape alludes to the process of “capture” measuring devices enact. What we observe here is the representation of a landscape constructed by set-squares and tailored protractors. The work is also the representation of a paradox: the measuring devices, instead of projecting onto the landscape, mutate into the very elements that end up composing the landscape. The title of the piece expresses this same inversion in which the theorem itself generates the world that it springs from, similar to the way a map engenders a territory. |
